Sovereign Green Bond Pioneer

Awarded to:
The Kingdom of Denmark

Green energy has been a top priority in Denmark for decades and has made the country a frontrunner in wind and solar power which in 2022 supplied approximately 60% of its electricity. Towards 2030, Denmark expects a massive expansion in renewable energy deployment. Proceeds from the sovereign green bond are earmarked for Renewable Energy (solar and wind), and Low-Carbon Transport.

“We are honoured to receive the Sovereign Green Bond Pioneer award for the work with our green bond programme. Transparency has been a key focus for us in the development of our green bond programme, as we believe that it is crucial for growing sustainable investments.”

- Kristine Rasmussen, Head of Monetary Policy Implementation and Government Debt
