SUMMARY

Momentum is building within the financial sector from net-zero commitments to implementation of such commitments, beginning with developing the necessary frameworks and approaches for individual firms to set their own transition targets, strategies, and approaches for delivery. Each financial institution should now look to adjust its business model, develop a credible transition plan, and implement its plan. Given the important role that financial institutions can play in supporting the decarbonization of real-economy corporates, it is critical that there are consistent and clear expectations for what financial institutions need to see from the businesses they finance.

This event will explore how financial institutions are navigating the net-zero transition with a particular focus on the frameworks and tools essential to achieving these objectives. The discussion will highlight the recently released tool from the Climate Bonds Initiative, in collaboration with the Institutional Investors Group on Climate Change (IIGCC), the Sustainable Markets Initiative (SMI), the Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero (GFANZ), and Climate Arc, which offers a classification system incorporating a wide range of existing frameworks to identify core, prioritized indicators of credible corporate transition.

The event will be invitation-based and conducted under Chatham House Rule.
